Today I’m working on my Birth & More stuff—and wow, the ideas are flowing! I want to do all of them, but let’s be honest: there are only 24 hours in a day. So, I’ve recently taken a couple of classes, had some heartfelt conversations with friends (new and old), and started to clarify what I truly want me and my business.
What’s exciting is realizing that Birth & More isn’t the same as it was 5, 10, or 20 years ago. And that’s a good thing. As I’ve changed and grown, my business must be allowed to grow and change too. When I first started Birth & More, it was all about birth and postpartum—that’s where I was over 25 years ago. But today, Birth & More means something much deeper and broader. It’s about the whole journey: pregnancy, birth, postpartum, parenting, and grief. It’s about walking with people through the messy, beautiful, sacred transitions of life. You might ask, “What does that look like?” Well, when I finish my webpage and all the behind-the-scenes work, I’ll share it with you. You’ll see how it all comes together—and how it truly reflects who I am. I want to thank everyone who’s helped me along the way. Even those who only pretended to help—because without all of it, I wouldn’t be who I am today. And I love who I am today. I started as a doula by profession, but over the years I’ve become so much more: a doula, a peer, a mom, an aunt, a widow, a wife. Today, I walk a transparent, ethical, and vulnerable path. I live as an open book—ready to share, support, celebrate, and cry with others. I am the “Wise Woman”, “The Sage”, “The Auntie” or maybe even “The Grandmother” I strive to share what I have learned with others so they can walk a better path along life’s trail. And yes, I truly LOVE who I am today! Okay… maybe a little thinner would be nice. Fewer joint pains wouldn’t hurt. And being 25 again? LOL. But still—this version of me is transparent, venerable, and deeply rooted. Stay tuned. Birth & More is evolving—and it’s going to be beautiful.
