Vision Statement: My goal is to make a difference in the world by supporting those I encounter with encouragement, education and acceptance so they can be authentic when they walk the path of life.
About Bev Young Reed: Bev has been providing support to families for all the stages of life for over 25 years. Drawing upon her lived experience and continued growth and education,
Bev created the classes “Walking With Grief”, and “Authentically You” from her walk in life. The culture around grief can be scary, and people often don’t know what to say or do. “Walking With Grief” has Bev sharing openly about grief in a manner that teaches the observer how to be a support to someone actively challenged by grief. Her class helps start a conversation that makes communication around grief more open, so that others know how to respond when they hear someone the care for say “I just lost my … “. This class has been well received by her peers at conferences designed to support Certified Peer Counselors with their work in the behavioral health field.
Authentically You came about after Bev lost her ”titles in life”. As she struggle to find out who she is now she looked for support, but there was non. Bev lost her husband in 2016 and changed her title from wife to widow, Bev stopped being a doula and became a Certified Peer Counselor. She realized that she was not sure who she was anymore, so she started the path of figuring it out, and “Authentically You” was born. She facilitates the peer group that goes with the class so that others can also figure out who they are and learn to embrace it.
Bev is a Certified Peer Counselor, Certified WRAP Co Facilitator, Accredited Triple P (Power of Positive Parenting) Professional, Certified Life Coach, Certified Birth and Postpartum doula, Bereavement Doula and WRAP Trained. Bev has recently joined the Back Porch Community on Facebook as a Zoom Host so she can do her groups and classes in a supportive environment. Beverly Young Reed, CPC
